Production of rice will plan remarkable increment in Camagüey

Camagüey, march 6 (AIN) The production of milled rice will grow notably this year in the county of Camagüey that hopes to reach 30 thousand 600 tons between the specialized company and the harvesters in small parcels.

In 2008 the territory achieved some 13 thousand 450 tons, when the Complex Agroindustrial Invasore Route undertook the recovery of areas for the cultivation, with state financing.

Idelino Álvarez, director of that FELL, main one of the four ofCuba, he said that the sowing of the 2009 surpasses the 19 thousand hectares, more than the half it corresponds to individual rice fields or cooperativized who the sales of the humid grain will increase to the State.

For the reanimation of this production financial funds and means were assigned, as tractors, machines recolectors and fertilizers.

The delivery is also expected of more than eight million dollars foreseen in agreements of the Bolivarian Alternative for the America (ALBA), dedicated to the modernization of dry and mills,highways repairing in the complex, rehabilitation of plantations and irrigation systems and of agricultural communities.

The program up to 2013 specifies to arrive to the production of 68 thousand tons in the county.
This way, Cuba looks for to reduce the imports of rice that have been of the order of the 500 thousand tons in the last years.
