Camagüey, Oct 18 - Silvestre de Balboa will be remembered especially in the time by the Day of the Cuban Culture in the old Villa of Santa María del Puerto del Príncipe-today Camagüey - where in 1608 he wrote the poem Mirror of Patience, text considered as the first work of the literature in the Island.
The homage will be made next day 20, celebration of the date, when will be develed a brass badge and the will happen initial presentation of the book "Life of Silvestre de Balboa and Troya: the precursory canary of the Cuban literature", edited by his coterráneo Ramiro García, residing in Camagüey.
The two activities will be made in a place of the declared sector Cultural Patrimony of the Humanity, the little square Juana of the Castle, where there is a sculptural monument in honor to the Cuban National Poet of Camagüey Nicolás Guillén.
Resided from 1958 in the bigger of the Antilles, García expressed that the book is about 18 year-old fruit in Cuba and Spain.
Published by the local editorial Ácana, the work has more than 100 pages related with who was born in 1563 in the Spanish archipelague of Canaries, and died then in 1649 in the Villa of Puerto Príncipe, in accordance with presumably dates.
Balboa was also notary of the town council of the village and his epic-heroic poem centers the content in a fact of 1604 in the cluster of Yara, the kidnapping of the bishop from Cuba, brother Juan of the Heads Altamirano, carried out by men to the French pirate's control Gilberto Girón.
