Festival of French Cinema in Camagüey

Camagüey, With the exhibition of the film Murderers (Meurtrières), reward of the President of the Jury of the section A Certain Regard of the Festival of Cannes, will begin today the subsidize of the XII Festival of French Cinema in this city.

Used for the first time in the 2006, the managing Patrick Grandperret will begin the cycle of projections of works of the contemporary cinematography of the European nation, in the room of video New World.

Another of the proposals will be The France (2007), of Serge Bozon, prize Jean Vigo 2007 to the best longeron and the prize of the Mexican festival FICCO 2008 to the best director of fiction; selected by the magazine Cahiers du Cinema one of the 10 better French movies of the year 2007.

Also, in the appointment foreseen up to June 17 will be in billboard The witness (2007), of André Téchiné, Prize of the Jury of the Czech Festival of cinema Gay and Lésbico to the best longeron.

Organized by the Cuban Institute of Art and Film Industry, the Embassy of France in Cuba and the French Alliance, this year the Festival surrenders homage to the film director Alain Resnais.

Outside of France, this Festival is the one that more gathers spectators for the convocation level and the knowledge of the Gallic cinema in the island, besides the collaboration sustained in the environment of the cinematography. (Yanetsy León González)
