Camilo Cienfuegos, present in Camagüey

The Commandant Camilo Cienfuegos shared with the people of Camagüey the first revolutionary act for the International Day of the Workers, in 1959.

In the Country Casino of the city of Camagüey, the guerilla fighter, just by 27 years, called to the unit to follow the fight.

In his message to the people of Camagüey the Hero of Yaguajay pointed out: " This unit that we see to newspaper in our Homeland, is to maintain it to all coast. All the workers should unite every day more."

During that act for the international workes`s day headed in Camagüey the parade that left of the Avenue of the Martyrs, he traveled the central streets Republic, Ignacio Agramonte and Cisneros, to the Country Casino.

Effective have the Camagüey the presence and Camilo Cienfuegos` words when he expressed: "Workers, should be aware of the moment that we live, that are many the hidden enemies and while waiting for the moment to attack us are not divided! We cannot divide ourselves! Army, town and workers should be every more united day."

Later on he expressed: "Before we did wonder weapons for what reason?. Today we say, do we need weapons to combat to the contrarrevolutionaries and the enemies from Cuba that try to snatch us this beautiful victory."

Labor Day: Students from 50 Countries to Parade in Camagüey

Camagüey. Representing Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Middle East, foreign students that are taking courses in Camagüey will endorse the Cuban Revolution participating in May Day parade tomorrow at Ignacio Agramonte Revolution Square.

Francisco López Domínguez who heads the provincial office of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) told press that these friends will demand the immediate release of the five Cuban antiterrorist fighters who are unjustly serving long prison sentences in US jails.

The block of these young foreign students – known as the solidarity block- will wave a huge banner in which the 100 000 hours of voluntary work accumulated since 1990 by the International Brigade Amigos de Cuba will be acknowledged.

Foreign students from some 50 nations will ratify this Friday the international support towards the Cuba and its Revolution. (Yamylé Fernández Rodríguez).

Striving for materializing important economic and social goals, we celebrate the International Workers Day; another occasion to reaffirm the revolutionary spirit and the support of the Cuban people to Fidel, Raul and the Communist Party.

We salute this significant date working on very special tasks like foodstuff production and the sugar cane harvest pursuing a full recovery and the development of the province and Cuba.

The proletarian force of Camaguey mobilized last Sunday to those fronts and also backed up what the territory has been doing to mend the houses damaged by hurricanes Ike and Paloma, plus promoted the actions taken to clean and decorate workplaces in regards to the international workers' holiday.

The efforts made to achieve such goals have been marked the a united action, something that has prevailed over the last five decades among the dwellers of this land.

And it is that the call of unity made 50 years ago by Commander Camilo Cienfuegos in Camaguey is endorsed each May First thanks to the devotion and effort deployed by men and women who go forth in spite of any obstacle.


This is how the people in different tribunes have been expressing their feelings and this is how once again the voices of all Camagueyans will cry this Friday saluting the 50th anniversary of the Revolution and the 70th anniversary of Cuban Workers Trade Union Federation.

We shall advance now and ever, in a solid fist as Camilo asked us strengthening the will and the intelligence of a society and ratifying our decision of going forward defending the Socialist Revolution under the leadership of Fidel, Raul and the Communist Party.

First of May.Camagüey. The townof Camagüey parades in this May first, International Day of the Workers. This year 2009, the march is headed by the political and administrative address of Ignacio Agramante`s earth .

19 are the unions that group in the Revolution Square Ignacio Agramante for the parade that began few minutes before 8:00 in the morning in this dawn of May. There are more than 400 thousand family workers that play giving their support to Fidel Raúl in the whole county, to the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and fundamentally to The Cuban Revolution.

Cuba and Haiti Sign Anti-drug Agreement

HAVANA, Cuba.The Governments of Cuba and Haiti signed a cooperation agreement on the fight on drug trafficking.

Haitian Foreign Minister Alrich Nicolas and María Esther Reus Gonzalez, Cuban Minister of justice, penned the document in the Havana-based Palco Hotel; the accord expands bilateral cooperation between the two sister Caribbean nations.

This agreement promotes bilateral collaboration in this field to efficiently fight the trafficking of psychotropic substances and other drugs.

The bilateral stipulates that relevant entities of both nations establish and keep communication channels, what improves the speed and safety of sensitive information exchange in the field.

The agreement will also contribute to develop cooperation systems in the treatment, rehabilitation of drug consumers and in the prevention of drug consumption; it will also favor the exchange of officers as part of training programs related to the fight against this scourge.

Cuba and Bolivia Explore Trade Potential at Cochabamba Fair

HAVANA, Cuba.Cuba has stated its interest in expanding trade with Bolivia at the International Cochabamba Fair (FEICOBOL), according to media reports from Bolivia.

Los Tiempos newspaper reports that experts from Cuba are analyzing national demand for certain products showcased at the fair such as food, textiles, leather and wooden goods.

The Bolivian newspaper quotes Hector Fondevila, the business attaché of the Cuban embassy in La Paz, as highlighting the quality of the Bolivian products and that deals for the purchase of powdered milk, hamburgers and frozen chicken could be closed during the fair's business round.

Fondevila also said that building materials, ceramics, furniture and other wooden items are being analyzed.

Laureano Rojas, president of the Cochabamba's Chamber of Industry, said that the Cuban market is an opportunity that can't be missed.

Among the Cuban export products that have generated interest are perfumes, pesticides and veterinary products made by LABIOFAM, orthopaedic devices showcased by the Frank País Hhospital and scientific and technical services.

The 26th International Cochabamba Fair has been underway for a week and concludes on Sunday, May 3.

Website on Che Guevara to Open Soon

SANTA CLARA, Cuba. A website on the life and work of Argentinean-born revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevara will be soon available online in the digital page of the Vanguardia newspaper of this city.

The website, currently under testing, was the graduation project of Ivey Leon Muñoz and Randy Bartumeu, who recently concluded computer sciences studies at the province's technical institute of the speciality.

Leon Muñoz told ACN news agency that the site contains information about the revolutionary actions of Che Guevara, his written works including letters, and a wide picture gallery covering several stages of Che's life. It will introduce visitors to Che's passion for chess, and other
hobbies and also will provide information on the monuments that are erected in his honor in Santa Clara.

Javier Sevilla, Vanguardia's computer expert, explained that the website dedicated to Che will be hosted by Santa Clara's newspaper, the city where Che's remains are kept.

Sevilla noted that the website will serve to organize information on internet about Ernesto Guevara, to help journalists, students and all those interested in learning about the legendary Argentinean-Cuban revolutionary.
