BEGINNING DAY OF THE PRESS IN CAMAGÜEY

With the deposit of a floral offering before the monument to the National Hero José Martí the date began for the Day of the Worker of the Press in Camagüey.

Armando Boudet Gómez and Oscar González Vázquez, both proposed to the Prize for the Work of the Life in the territory, carried the offering, in Act where participated a representation of the 150 members of the UPEC of the 10 Delegations of Bases with which it counts the region of Camagüey.

Luis Naranjo Batista, president of the Journalists Writers Union of Cuba (UPEC) in Camagüey read the message where the National Presidency of the Organization confers to the county a Special Recognition reached in the National Emulation by the Day of the Worker of the Cuban Press.

Among the achievements, Luis Naranjo pointed out , are standed out the advance in all the fronts, with highlights matter in the attention prioritized to the superation topics and professional formation, to the students and the quality of the shops carried out along the year, besides the operation of the House of the Press, among others.

On the other hand Miozotis Fabelo Pinares, member of the Provincial Executive, said that this was a good moment to discuss on the best form of making journalism, to exercise the critic from constructive positions, to make votes for the quality and to commit more even with the Revolution
This year the journalists of the country will take place their Day under the teacher José Martí`s motto.

“Without highness of ideas, nobody waits the common respect”, in homage to the centenary of the known grateful journalistl Enrique de la Osa and to the fiftieth anniversary of the first Organs of Diffusion been founded by the Revolution. In Camagüey the newspaper Adelante stands with that condition.

After the Act of Beginning, the journalists of Camagüey debated interesting topics in the Encounter of Generations, with the participation of students of the Career of Journalism and professionals of the Sector with more experience.

Cuban VP of Council of Ministers Meets Honduran President

HAVANA, Cuba, March 4 (acn) Ricardo Cabrisas, Vice President of the Cuban Council of Ministers, met on Tuesday with Honduran President Jose Manuel Zelaya, who is in Cuba participating in the 11th International Meeting of Economists on Globalization and Development Problems that is underway in Havana.

According to Prensa Latina news agency, Cabrisas thanked the visitor for his country's rejection of the US economic blockade against the Caribbean archipelago at all international forums.

For his part, Zelaya ratified their position against this hostile and aggressive policy of the US Government over the last 50 years.

Both leaders spoke about diverse topics including regional initiatives in favour of unity and integration. They also highlighted the importance of the first Summit of Latin America and the Caribbean on Integration and Development that took place in Brazil recently.

Raúl Castro Met with President Leonel Fernandez in Havana

HAVANA, Cuba, March 4 (acn) Cuban President Raul Castro Ruz met on Tuesday with Leonel Fernandez Reyna, President of the Dominican Republic.

President Fernandez, who is on an official visit to Cuba, was welcomed at the Palace of the Revolution by the Cuban Head of State. The two leaders also held official talks and expressed their satisfaction with the state of bilateral relations; they affirmed their commitment to keep enhancing the bonds between their two nations.

Leonel Fernandez and Raul Castro also exchanged on the challenges facing their countries, as well as on regional and world issues, Granma newspaper reported.

The Dominican President invited Raul Castro to visit his country; the invitation was accepted by the Cuban head of state.
