That zeal is summed up with the contribution of institutions related with the agriculture, the cattle raising and the forest sector that fomented 27 thousand palms in the more desolated areas by the hurricanes Ike and Paloma in the 2008.

To 40 thousand copies ascends the project every year, and it takes implicit the recognition of the utility of this tree, king of the Cuban fields, said Nelson Figueroa , boss of the Forest State Service in the territory.

It is undeniable the contribution of the real palm to the Cuban paisajistic besides that its flowers are melliferous and the plant works as a natural lightning rod for the erect of the shaft and the height that it reaches.

Cuba lost 285 thousand palms with the ago two year-old hurricanes and the current reforestation advances with phases of storing of seeds, preparation of nurseries and seed.

Of a great part of the trees of this type demolished in Camagüey by the meteors were taken advantage of their wood for charts in the construction and repair of housings, and the hack like cover.

For example in the Cooperative of Camagüey of Agricultural Production (CPA) Jesús Suárez Gayol, those more than 700 demolished were good to build houses to peasants of the entity, informed Eduardo Cruz, president of the unit.

He added that at the moment plants are fomented by natural regeneration and the agrarian ones are in charge of of its care.

As long as, in the CPA Martyrs of Cascorro, in the municipality of Guáimaro, conditions are believed to develop a forest of this species, besides others of fruit-bearing and of beautiful wood, commented David Castillo, directive of that cooperative .

He added that the plantation of postures is made when these reach around 40 centimeters high, suitable measure for its survival and growth.
