Martí and Gómez in Cajobabo

After multiple setbacks, April 11,1895 José Martí and Maximo Gómez disembarked for Cajobabo, Guantánamo. In Montecristi, Sebastían, the captain of a small schooner that would take them, in a first intent to Island Big Inagua, in the archipelague of The Bahamas, announces the destination of the same , for what most of the sailors deserted fearful of a possible shipwreck or for the interruption of some Spanish craft during the voyage. On the other hand, the authorities of the referred Island, imposed of the situation, inspect the craft and discover the weapons, for what Martí has to manage them to leave unhurt; it is imposed to leave to the biggest urgency, before robs some Spanish craft in the place.

The Haitian consul facilitates the passports and the captain of the German cargo carrier Nordstrand consents to carry out that risky company, but he has to navigate first toward Haitian End and of there, bound for Jamaica, he will approach to East, so that Martí, Gómez and other four expeditionary, go down in boat to some how many miles of the coast.

Together the two eminent persons travel the Cuban Paquito Borrero, Ángel Guerra Cesar Salas and the Dominican Republic Marcos del Rosario.

Point of the time they point out that the captain charged a thousand pesos to lend this service, but the revolutionaries don't have as paying him the attentions, and much less the shown insomnia when April 11 oppose to that toss the bounce to the dark and violent sea, amid a storm that involves great danger. There is not who stops them. The coast is to less than three miles and the decision is irrevocable. Expressed Martí his gratefulness to the captain.

The bad time drops, with the blistered hands from rowing, they arrive at the beach, to the foot of Cajobabo; in that moment nobody knows where they are.

The joy invades them, but it is necessary that they contain the desire to spread its screams for the hills that surrounds them.

The humidity reigns in the atmosphere, a strong scent emanates of the dew in the farms, as long as the coolness of the moon in the dawn invites them to take a rest. Some fall asleep, Martí has the open eyes looking at the clouds among the foliage of the trees. They are in the earth and under the Cuban sky. Shortly they will seize the weapons in the Necessary War.(María Delys Cruz Palenzuela)

From her radial trench, ready to the call of the Native

“We are in a decisive moment of our history, the tyranny has been defeated. The happiness is immense! And however, it is a lot to still make. Let us don't deceive ourselves believing that in the advances everything will be easy; maybe in the advances everything is more difficult.”

Lourdes Margarita Barreiro, actress, writer and speaker of Radio Chain Agramonte.

“Good and prophetic words of Fidel, the eternal Major, in his memorable speech in City Freedom after arriving in Havana, January 8,1959.

She didn't make a mistake: it has been difficult. No, we never deceive ourselves in these 50 years in accumulating dignity while those that don't recover still of the mortal lunge, continue feeding their hate.

“The challenge is difficult, yes, but we assume it knowing that in the advances we would be inevitably them and us. Them, those that fight against the Homeland; us, those that we fight for and for her. It is time of summoning, of joining wills around a common cause: to preserve our conquests. It is hour of making decisions, of continuing transforming the setbacks into victories from all the fronts.

“We get up then with Cuba, with its Revolution, with its heroes, with its leaders, with its town, from its trench: the Radio, to ratify that we are ready to go to the call that we are aware of the historical moment that has belonged together to live and that we will assume today, tomorrow, always, how much is us to still make.

Concert of perspiration and effort for the development of Camagüey

Even resonant the echoes of the Concert for the Homeland, escenified in The Antimperialist Tribune in Havana and in the esplanade of the School City 26 of Julio in Santiago of Cuba, about 50 thousand people of Camagüey made of the mobilization of this Sunday a concert of perspiration and effort for the development.

In denied evident to the machinations of the yank empire, with their servants of the European Union as visible head, thousands people of Camagüey contributed from a voluntary way to main economic programs, among them the sugar harvest, in their final straight line.

The cut, and very especially the cane collection in harvested fields in an automated way, occupied the attention of who moved toward companies in harvest from hours of the dawn, knowing that to cover export commitments and of feeding of the town, is to make advance the socialism in Cuba.

Work of the moment in the several cultivations, mainly in the suburban agriculture, the cattle raising and the construction of housings, among other, were also in the center of attention of those mobilized that will maintain their contribution in this month of April, had inspired for 49 years by the resonant victory of Girón.

That first great defeat of the imperialism in America inspires to the town of Camagüey, like to the immense majority of the Cuban that denies fallacies abroad without fanfares and dismembers, without a blow, the ridiculous procession of having whitened mercenary internal and of other salary earners from United States.

Headed by the Political Directions and of Government of the county and of each municipality, the mobilizations stay as productive answer and of reject to the infundies. (Pedro Paneque Ruiz)
