Raúl Castro the first voter in the school of his district
Raúl arrived to the School before seven in the morning and he greeted the neighbors that were present, with some of which sustained a lively conversation around the strong drought that is affecting to several areas of the country, on that which underlined the graveness of the phenomenon to be more intense one of four o'clock in the last 109 years, what already harms the supply to some 500 thousand people.
After listening the notes of the National Hymn, Raúl and the neighbors of the School witnessed the oath of the members of the Electoral Table presided over by Lauids Pérez and the revision of the urn.
The President of the Council of State and of Secretaries went to deposit his vote in the urn guarded by the pioneer Carlos Daniel Murguido and Andy Pérez Suárez, of the primary schools Gustavo and Joaquín Ferrer and Luis Arches Bergnes, respectively, to which congratulated to fulfill their civic and patriotic duty.
Before retiring, the Second Secretary of the Party received on the part of the President of the School a recognition to have been there the first voter and the application of making him arrive a greeting message to the Commandant in Boss on the part of all the neighbors.

President of Casa de Las Americas Bestowed Jose Marti Order by Raul Castro
The awarding took place Tuesday during a ceremony for the 50th anniversary of the Havana-based institution, one of the most emblematic cultural entities in the continent, and whose founder and first president was outstanding revolutionary Haydee Santamaria.
The high honor was given to Fernandez Retamar for his valuable contribution to Cuban and Latin American culture, for his merits as researcher, poet, essayist and professor of several generations and for his firm defense of the Cuban Revolution.
Retamar dedicated the distinction to Haydee Santamaria, since-he stressed-without her example and influence, her life and work, he would not have been the person is today.
The ceremony also included the creation a postage stamp for the 50th anniversary of the cultural institution.
Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon also paid homage to Haydee Santamaria, a heroine of the 1963 Moncada Attack and the liberation war on the Sierra Maestra Mountain Range, and he recalled the various tasks and works undertaken by Casa de Las Americas.
Casa de Las Americas has encouraged us to resist and has contributed to defeat the isolation policy on Cuba, said Ricardo Alarcon in his statements during the ceremony, which concluded with the presentation of renowned singer Omara Portuondo.

President Raul Castro at Opening Session of NAM Ministerial Meeting
Also attending are Cuban Vice President Esteban Lazo, Vice President of the Cuban Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas and the president of the UN General Assembly Miguel D´Escoto, among other personalities.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez extended the most cordial welcome to all participants during his opening statement at the forum and he stressed Cuba's firm commitment to the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
The forum takes place at Havana's Conventions Center with the participation of 140 delegations, 111 of which represent NAM member nations, 14 have observer status. Also present are representatives of five international organizations and of 10 guest countries.
Following a two-day working session in commissions, the high-level officials prepared the document of the forum, which will be submitted for approval to the foreign ministers of the Third World organization.
The meeting, which winds up on Thursday, is the last one to take place under the mandate of Cuba as NAM Chair before Egypt assumes that responsibility during the 15th Summit of Heads of State and Government, next July 11-16.

Raul Castro at Ceremony for 50th Birthday of Cuba´s Film Institute
The ceremony included the premiere of the Cuban movie “Ciudad en Rojo” (City in Red) by moviemaker Rebeca Chavez; the film will be screened on Cuban movie theaters starting April 2.
After 1959, the Cuban movie industry became one of the major cultural achievements of the Revolution and it also encouraged the development of the New Latin American Cinema Movement.

Raul Castro Welcomes Cuban National Baseball Team
Raul greeted each member of the delegation and urged them to continue working hard for future tournaments.
During a brief ceremony, Frederich Cepeda, the best Cuban player during the competition, thanked the Cuban people and authorities for their constant support.
"We would have liked to return with the victory for our people but it was not possible on this occasion," he said. "We are all here, holding our heads high and willing to continue giving our best for our Revolution," he added.
Cepeda stressed that the experiences learned during the Classic would help Cuban baseball players improve their quality and performance.
The keynote address at the ceremony was delivered by VP Esteban Lazo, who, paraphrasing an idea of Cuban leader Fidel Castro, said: "Regardless of the result, what really matters is the honor and courage with which you fight for the triumph."
Lazo added that, although they wanted the victory, the Cuban people admire and recognize the effort and loyalty of the team.
He also praised the exceptional technical skills of the Cuban players that were reflected in the victories obtained against powerful teams full of professional players from several leagues around the world.
The Cuban VP of the Council of State also recalled the permanent support and encouragement the Cuban squad received from Fidel, Raul and the Cuban people.
He urged the sports authorities to carry out an unhurried, rigorous and thorough analysis of Cuba's participation in the 2009 World Baseball Classic and to take the necessary steps so that Cuba becomes, again, the leading world baseball nation as it has been over the past decades.
Also present at the ceremony was the President of the Cuban Olympic Committee, Jose Ramon Fernandez, as well as other government and sports authorities.

Raul Castro Meets European Commissioner for Development
According to Granma news daily, they all agreed on the positive state of the recently resumed bilateral cooperation between the European Commission and the Caribbean archipelago.
They also exchanged ideas about the current state of relations between Cuba and the European Union, based on the principles of non interference in domestic affairs and respect for the sovereignty of nations.
Also present in the meeting were Cuban FM Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla; Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment; and Jorge Marti Martinez, head of the Foreign Relations Department at the Central Committee of Cuba's Communist Party (PCC).
The European Commission was also represented by its Chargé d'affaires in Havana, Javier Niño.

Raúl Castro Met with President Leonel Fernandez in Havana
HAVANA, Cuba, March 4 (acn) Cuban President Raul Castro Ruz met on Tuesday with Leonel Fernandez Reyna, President of the Dominican Republic.
President Fernandez, who is on an official visit to Cuba, was welcomed at the Palace of the Revolution by the Cuban Head of State. The two leaders also held official talks and expressed their satisfaction with the state of bilateral relations; they affirmed their commitment to keep enhancing the bonds between their two nations.
Leonel Fernandez and Raul Castro also exchanged on the challenges facing their countries, as well as on regional and world issues, Granma newspaper reported.
The Dominican President invited Raul Castro to visit his country; the invitation was accepted by the Cuban head of state.

Cuban President Returned Home After Visiting Russia, Angola and Algeria
Early on Tuesday, Raul Castro and his delegation were welcomed at Havana's Jose Marti International Airport by Cuba's First Vice President Jose Ramon Machado Ventura and other government officials, Granma daily reported.
The successful world tour by the Cuban President contributed to further strengthening political, economic and friendly relations with the governments and peoples of Russia, Angola and Algeria.
Shortly after leaving Algeria, the third and last leg of his trip, Raul Castro and his delegation was seen off in Algiers by President Abedelaziz Bouteflika.
The Cuban delegation was made up of Revolution Commander Ramiro Valdes Menendez, also Communications and Information Technologies; First Deputy Minister of the Cuban Armed Revolutionary Forces, Army Corps General Leopoldo Cinta Frias; the Vice President of the Cuban Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas; Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque and Foreign Investment Minister Rodrigo Malmierca.

President Raul Castro Arrives is in Russia for Official Visit

The Cuban Head of State was welcomed at the Vnukovo Airport, in the outskirts of the capital Moscow, by Deputy Foreign Minister Serguei Riabkov.
During his stay in Russia, Raul Castro will hold official talks with President Medvedev and with other top government Russian officials.
The visit to Russia by the Cuban Head of State takes place in the context of excellent bilateral friendship and cooperation relations between Moscow and Havana.
Russia has been the third country, after Venezuela and Brazil, and the first European nation to have been visited by Raul Castro, since he was elected Cuban President.
