Cuban Parliament President Meets with Leader of Russia's Upper House

HAVANA, Cuba, April 22 (acn) Cuban Parliament President Ricardo Alarcon met in Havana with the head of the international relations committee of the Federation Council, the upper house of parliament, Mikhail V. Marguélov.

Marguélov heads a delegation visiting Cuba at the invitation of the Cuban National Assembly, reported Granma newspaper.

The meeting took place in an environment of sincerity and cordiality in a demonstration of the excellent relations shared between the two parliaments.

The Russian official also met with Cuban Vice President of the Council of Ministers Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz to discuss future cooperation between the two countries and strengthening ties.

Also attending the meetings were the vice minister of the International Relations Committee, Ilyás Umakhanov, and Russian Ambassador to Cuba Mikhail L. Kamynin.

Marguélov's delegation will fulfill a working program that includes several meetings with Cuban government and state officials and visits to places of historical and social interest.
