Cattlemen maintain commitment of producing more milk

Camagüey.In spite of the financial limitations for the acquisition of resources, the Cuban cattlemen maintain the commitment of growing from the four to six percent in the production of milk this year.

In the previous one, the country achieved 403 millions of liters of the food marketed by the dairies with entities of the ministries of the Nutritious Industry and of Interior Trade.

Joaquín Lezcano, vice minister of the Agriculture in charge of the cattle sphere, said to the AIN that at the moment that branch goes into - with the rains of the humid station - in the stage of sustained increment of the milk.

The commitments can be completed, assured referring to the purpose of reaching from 420 millions to 427 millions.

In Cuba, the destination of that milk is the sale subsidized for the children until the six years of age and to who acquire it for medical prescription, besides the supply to hospitals, infantile circles and scholarship holders' schools, and smaller quantities for the gastronomy or the elaboration of having derived.

The increase that is expected will allow to the country to reduce the purchase of powdered milk in the international market.

This year it is planed to appeal to that bag to care some 33 thousand tons, more than 10 thousand less than in 2008.

Lezcano pointed out that the cattle raising should center its advance in the advances in sowing more grasses and forages for the flocks and in elevating the natality that at this time is of 54 percent, an insufficient registration.(Lucilo Tejera Díaz )
