US Legislator Favors Improvement of US-Cuba Relations

HAVANA, Cuba, April 20 (acn) US legislator Barbara Lee said that she will boost initiatives to favor US-Cuba academic exchange in the medical and biotechnological fields.

Lee, who heads the black caucus at the US Congress, recently led a delegation to Cuba. On that occasion she said, that once she returned to California she would boost bilateral initiatives between both countries, Granma daily reports.

In an official statement, the Congress woman said that after nearly 50 years, the US economic blockade of Cuba has not worked and the normalization of diplomatic and commercial relations between Washington and Havana do have sense.

Despite the small number of Cuban communities in California, there were demonstrations favoring the improvement of relations between the two countries, this week. The site of the world network of the Los Angeles Times published 22 pictures on tourist destinations that could be of interest for US visitors. A message on the site reads that Traveling to Cuba, which was a taboo for US citizens for a long time, could be at their reach now under the Obama administration.
