Applies Cuba mother cells to treat the periodontitis

Havana. Cuba figures among the first countries in applying the mother cells in patient with periodontal illnesses (of the gums) with favorable results, the Cuban scientist Porfirio Hernández announced .

In exclusive to the AIN, the president of the National Commission of Regenerative Therapy, of the Ministry of Public Health, highlighted that the initial studies were carried out in the pediatric hospital William Soler, of the capital.

It could be proven that the injection of mother cells at level of the gum, has produced remarkable improvements in a group of sick, with a recovery and cure of the bony lesions, he asserted.
That to be proceeded carries out by means of a stomatologic treatment , in which gets ready the area and apply the mother cells , previously obtained of the patient that doesn't bear additional risks to be of the own organism and in none of the cases that have been presented secondary manifestations, he delimited.

The also vicedirector of the Institute of Hematology and Immunology, manifested that from 2004 so far more than 500 Cuban patients have been benefitted with the cellular therapy, 80 percent of these with inadequacy arterial chronicle.

The cellular therapy includes the hematology specialties, angiology, cardiology and orthopedics, and it consists on using mature to reconstitute or to regenerate mother cells that are different to them.

The method is applied in the counties of Pinar del Río, City of Havana, Matanzas, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos and Holguín, and its purpose to extend it to other territories, the expert emphasized.

The advances of Cuba in this field are shown in Hematology 2009 that includes the II International Symposium of Regenerative Medicine, and which culminates today in the Palace of Conventions of Havana with the participation of 600 delegates of 30 countries. (Iris de Armas Padrino)
