Begins today National Colloquy with the Cuban Architecture

Artists and Cuban intellectuals will be pronounced since today in the National Colloquy by the Cuban Architecture, foreseen in this city up to September 12.

The appointment proposes the exchange about the current situation of the manifestation, the paper of the institutions in the transformation of that reality and the formation and the social recognition of its professionals.

The event seeks to sit down rules to achieve that the current architecture, affected by material limitations, don't only have functional values to constitute an unavoidable artistic-cultural fact of the nation, according to Florentino Rivero Mójer, president of the organizing committee.

The sample “Archilocura”, in the art gallery Julián Morales, in the headquarters of the branch of the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba, will be of the tonight surprises during the inauguration of the Colloquy.

With its conference “The taking of the great white city”, the Dr Mario Coyula Cowley, National Prize of Architecture 2001, will open the debate this Thursday September 10, in the Center Cultural Recreational Casino, headquarters of the scientific program.

Among other personalities will participate in the event Julio Cesar Pérez Hernández, professor of the University of Harvard, the investigating Lohania Aruca Alonso, between other architects and professors like Lourdes Gómez Mother-in-law, National Prize of Architecture 2003 and Blackish Oscar Herrera, both of the University of Camagüey.

Restored singular balcony in patrimonial area
