Began the milling in Camagüey

Camagüey, Dec 19. The sugar harvest began today in the county of Camagüey, determined to take out the maximum profit to the available cane, after the step of two hurricanes for its territory.

The central Batalla de las Guásimas began the milling in early hours of this morning, and it is expected that in next hours other two geniuses enter in operations.

The tests locate the brix (extracted content in the shafts) around the 18 percentage points, favorable level for the beginning of the cut in this time.

Camagüey spect to carry out the crop during 108 days and will maintain in the campaign at five of their eight industries.

The damages caused to the plantations by the meteors Ike and Paloma, in September and November, with adverse impact in the agricultural and industrial yields, are the fundamental cause so that the production of raw falls by 20 percent in connection with the precedent season.

Before such a problem, the county organized the harvest to assure the gathering of the gramineous in the fields and to get milled high and stable in the factories, in order to achieve high extractions in the millings and with the biggest possible quantity of sugar.

The crop will be in charge of 198 machines and cutters of the canes units combatants of the Young Army of the Work and volunteers mobilized by the Power station of Workers of Cuba.
