Havana. TheOrganization of American States (OAS) should repair the historical error of excluding Cuba of this interamerican mechanism, affirmed Patricia Rodas, minister of External Relationships of Honduras.
The exhortation made the Honduran minister at the end of an Extraordinary Summit of the chancellors and officials of high level of the countries members of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Towns of Our America (ALBA), informs today the daily Juventud Rebelde.
The Chancellor underlined that the OAS should repair its historical error of excluding Cuba of this interamerican mechanism “for the single fact - say-of having exercised the right to the sovereignty and the self-determination of its town, just as it establishes the Constituent Letter of this forum, legitimate daughter of the Letter of the UN.”
In her condition of official spokeswoman of the encounter, Rodas expressed: “The position that we are making is that the OAS suspends the resolutions that is to say for which was expelled Cuba of the organization, - she specified - that the OAS indemnifies Cuba and our towns, and never more she repeats that she made in 1962, violating the letter of its Constituent Letter.”
During the meeting that sesioned in Caracas, Rodas said that there is a counterproposal of international character that seeks devitrify the true essence of the position of Cuba before the OAS and envelope what the ALBA countries members have come alerting in the last times.
And she underlined: “We request to the media of the America that say the truth, and the truth is that the discussion is not on allowing Cuba to return to the OAS, but rather the rights are respected that attend him as independent and sovereign nation, free of choosing the political, economic and social system that considered, without the injerency neither the interference of other countries.”
The Honduran Chancellor's declarations have to do with the expressed will of the ALBA countries members of fixing a common position, of regional block, in the next General Assembly of the OAS foreseen for the coming June in San Pedro de Sula, Republic of Honduras, where the topic of Cuba will return to the table of discussions of an organization integrated by 34 countries of the America.
