General director of the UNESCO visits Cuba

Havana, Jan 19 . Koïchiro Matsuura, general director of the United Nations for the Education, the Science, the Culture, the Communication and the Information (UNESCO), arrived to Havana in official visit.

Matsuura who visits for the first time Cuba, acts to the front of the organization since November of 1999, the Granma newspaper highlights.

During his stay he will meet with Cuban leaders and will travel places of historical and cultural interest.

Cuba is member of the UNESCO since August 29,1947, and starting from the victory of the Revolution there is potenciated qualitatively its taxes in the different spheres of this organization, mainly in thematic related with the education, the sciences and the cultural patrimony.
