The guide's betrayal and the negligence of the boss of the Column No. 11 "Cándido González Morales" were conjugated in the song of blood and death that became the dawn of September 27, 1958 in that place of the south of the county of Camagüey, practically unknown until then, called Pine Three, in the vicinity of the old central Macareño.

The captain Jaime Vega, later on traitor to the Revolution, went to the front of the rebellious grouping, disobeying the orders given by the Commandant in Boss Fidel Castro, that took care of not being seen during the voyage by the south of this territory, was made notice when sending to look for gasoline to the store of the town of Becerra, to enable the vehicles that he also had orders of not using to transport to the troop.

It was specify to take all the possible cautions, and made it to him this way to taste our Commandant in Boss like Vega, keeping in mind that newly had trafficked for the territory the invasors columns of the commandants Camilo Cienfuegos and Ernesto Che Guevara, those that had the mission of taking the Revolution to the West of the country, and that that logically maintained in alert to the enemy forces.

On the other hand, testimonies of integral of the column secure Vega's negative act, when declaring with posteriority that in more than an opportunity this had manifested to have difficulty to arrive to Ciego de Ávila for the day of its birthday, in immediate date.

It is mounted the rebels so in trucks, and agreement position the treacherous guide with the enemy, before the fire scream to the can!, while got lost in the darkness to spread gallop, the revolutionaries, sleepy, were surprised by the grapeshot.

Thirty three lives got lost here, of them eleven made prisoners and slaughtered later on in La Caobita, a near place to the ambush.

This fact constituted a hard blow for the Rebellious Army and for the Revolution, few months before the victory, that that without place to doubts, it served as incentive to arrive until the final objective: the victory.
