Fidel Castro Speaks over the Phone with Cuban Doctors in Haiti

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 27 - Cuban Revolution leader spoke over the phone with members of the Cuban Medical Brigade that is fighting the cholera outbreak in Haiti.

Fidel called Cuban Health deputy Minister Marcia Cobas, who is in L’Estere town in the Artibonite department, the most affected by the pandemic, and spoke with several doctors that graduated from the Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM)

Cobas is following instructions from the Revolution leader to get in touch directly with all the members of the Henry Reeve medical brigade that are in Haiti, to find out how they are dealing with the tough conditions they are working in.

She asked the cooperants about their health, food, safety and how they are communicating with their families back in Cuba. She also forwarded greetings from Fidel and Cuban President Raul Castro and handed them over a card signed by Fidel.

Among them were Honduran Yorlenis Ramírez, US Gregory J. Wilkinson and Uruguayans Verónica and Brayan who thanked Cuba for having trained them as doctors.

Doctor Elisa Ortiz Vázquez, who heads the 145 health professional brigade in Artibonite, told Fidel they were proud of proving medical services wherever in the world they are needed.

The medical brigade has treated over 46000 Haitinas that had contracted cholera, and have kept mortality at a low 0.59 percent. They also checked over 181000 people and detected 1265 sick among them which they treated.(acn)

To today's dawn Tuesday, a helicopter of the Bolivarian Armed that participated in the successful rescue of 21 countrymen of two small lost crafts for 48 hours (still lacking a third craft), smashed and at this hour (10:00 hrs) I have just spoken with the Vice-admiral that commands the operations. They are rescuing some bodies without life. Another tragedy!

As you know, however, we are the children of the storm, Bolívar's children, "the man of the difficulties."

And we will leave ahead! To name of our Town, of the relatives of the deads, of the Revolutionary Government and for the memory of our martyrs, I make you arrive the deepest gratefulness for your notes of weighing and your words of solidarity.

Message of condolence of Fidel to Chávez

Havana, Sep 15- Next we transmit the message of the leader of the Cuban Revolution condolence, Fidel Castro Ruz, to the president of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez, with reason of the death of Willian Lara, governor of the state Guárico, and that publish today Granma newspaper and Juventud Rebelde.

Dear Hugo:

I want to transmit you the deep pain that caused me the death of Willian Lara, governor of the state Guárico, always friend and defender of the friendship among our two towns.

He fell challenging the danger and fulfilling the duty the Homeland and the Revolution. He didn't hesitate one second in crossing the bridge, already under the waters of the growing and wide river, like are usually in Venezuela; he worried about those that were to the other side of the current. Nothing else fair that to grant him the Liberator's Order and the felt words that you pronounced to the foot of his coffin.

But, he wanted the chance that, the same day, other faithful fighter died for the Bolivarian Revolution : Guillermo García Ponce.

When he took place, at the same time, the unhappy air accident in Bolívar's Venezuelan state, something characteristic of our upset time, the world had a test of what that Revolution means for the town; in question of minutes, all the available resources were put to disposition of the dozens of people survivors.

To the relatives that dear beings lost, those of those in that some member fights to survive, to the town of Venezuela, and to you, I want to transmit them my deepest feelings of solidarity.

Fidel and the first lesson of the Cuban school course

The historical perron of the University of Havana, scenario of multiple battle of ideas of Cuban youths' generations, has become in the morning of this Friday September 3, in a great classroom, where an unquestionable teacher, Fidel, imparts the first class of the school course: The peace, as the humanity's survival.

This message to the university students is carried out in the first presence in an act of the leader of the Cuban Revolution`s masses. The appearance sinks to the arguments in interviews, official conversations, visits to Cuban communities and Reflections that has carried out to alert to the world on the urgent topic of the nuclear war, its consequences and way of avoiding it during the summery season.

The danger of a nuclear holocaust has changed land. It is no longer an island of the Caribbean, when in the crisis of the missiles in the year 1963 willing to defend with dignity its sovereignty, now is Iran, a nation that an inch doesn't go back in front of the leonine demands of United States and Israel, under the pretext of possessing a nuclear arsenal.

He exhorted them to not leaving the battle that like in other many fights of the past is possible to conquer.

The respect, the affection and the discipline were imposed at once today that our Commandant Fidel Castro summoned when meeting in the perron of the University of Havana with the students of the study house, witness of the formation of thousands revolutionaries that over there have trafficked.

The habit of maintaining his town upgrade is for the eternal leader of the Cuban revolution a privilege, and considers that mainly the youths, main characters of the Cuban revolutionary vanguard, be prepared for a great event or world catastrophe that is to happen, coarse that the main hosts of such a threat take conscience and ignore the absurd idea of disappearing part of the planet.

The fight for the justice is for the Cubans a task, the world cannot be destroy for a whim and is for that reason that the unit is imposed.

A better world can be possible if we all achieve the unit and we avoid the hate and the bitterness, if we take care of the environment, and we take the necessary measures, anything will happen, our commandant affirms this way in his intervention.

Achieving all this, the planet and the world will be grateful.

Union of Communist Youths is inspired by Fidel, indefatigable warrior's example

The Cuban youths are summoned to remain the whole informed time and alert mobilizing consciences, wills and the human being's better values

Nevertheless, with more clarity I conserve the delicate questions that formulated Fidel the those mentioned Reflections without seeking to receive answer the partner, that is:

1º Is correct that the President of the United States orders the murder of any person in the world, be which be the pretext?

2º Is it ethical that the President of the United States orders to torture other human beings?

3º Is the state terrorism an instrument that should use such a powerful country as United States so that the peace exists in the planet?

4º Is good and honorable a Law of Adjustment that is applied like punishment to a single country, Cuba, to destabilize it, although it costs the life to children and innocent mothers? If it is good, why is not the automatic right of residence applied the Haitians, of the Dominican Republic and other countries of the Caribbean, and is the same thing made with the Mexicans, Central American and South American, that die as flies in the wall of the Mexican frontier or in waters of the Atlantic and the Pacific?

5ºCan United States be able to do without of the immigrants that cultivate vegetables, fruits, almonds and other delights for the North Americans? Who would sweep their streets, would lend domestic services and would carry out the worst and less remunerated works?

6º Are fair the hauls of illegal aliens that even affect children born in United States?

7º Is moral and justifiable the robbery of brains and the continuous extraction of the best scientific intelligence and intellectuals of the poor countries?

8º You affirm, like I remembered to the beginning of this reflection that your country noticed a while ago to the European powers that it would not admit interventions in the hemisphere, and at the same time reiterates the demand of that right, claiming at the same time the one of intervening in any part of the world with the support of hundred of military bases, naval force , air and space distributed in the planet. Do I ask him, is that the form in that United States expresses its respect for the freedom, the democracy and the human rights?

9º Is it exactly to attack surprising and preventively sixty or darker corners of the world, as the flame Bush, be which be the pretext?

10º Is it honorable and sensible to invest millions of millions of dollars in the industrial military complex weapons that can liquidate several times the life in the Earth to take place?

As a caguairan, one of the Sierra Maestra stronger trees. Tall, vigorous, as a fight rooster, with the brilliant feathers that it is health, as an old pilferer of the family said, with long and sharp spurs to face the enemy.

They are the images that crowded together in the mind when I listened for the radio station Radio Clock the news, soon after of six in the morning: Fidel in the Special Round Table, for radio and Cuban television, stops here and for the world.

After the surprise in the habit of being early rising, the morning and the afternoon I passed investigating on the topic. I could find little more than the announcement that would reappear in the small screen to argue, first hand, the dangerous events that take place in the Half East.
However, to this event that will happen in some minutes - I write these lines. at 5 15 p.m local time- have preceded him several “Reflections of the partner Fidel” that have alerted to the world about the career toward a warlike conflict of unforeseeable results.

Also, some days ago, I had the opportunity to read an article of the colleague's Ernesto Pantaleón, titled “The luxury of another war”. I don't have left doubts, I learned how to admire and to love Fidel thanks to my father. From very small he made me understand the truth from that man to the one that my mother, also, eulogized for his virile poise and his strong and good look .

For them, humble workers, the Revolution was something more than an event of the history, was the opportunity to feel same and to trace the path of its children. My father, revolutionary of faith and convictions, has Fidel in the peak of the values and although he is a staunch critic of him not well fact and of what steams up the gestated work and conformed under his guide, has suffered in silence the physical absence of the Commandant of the public scenary because dad, as all those that we take to Fidel in the heart trust every day his lucidity and in the opportune orientation for the fair moment, still in spite of his ailments.

In minutes, as me and most of the Cubans and friends - or enemies - of any latitude of the world, my father, accompanied by my mother will listen attentive Fidel's ideas on the situation in the Half East. Perhaps he won't express his feelings and impressions with words until having finished the emission of the Round Table, but in each one of his expressions and gestures I will know how to interpret his empathy, his satisfaction to see him from the screen, to know him like one more in this daily combat to the one that surrendered without limits and wanting that the days had more than 24 hours. Fidel today will be its great happiness. We will enjoy it together.

Fidel exercises his right to the vote

The Commandant in Boss, Fidel Castro Ruz, exercised at 10.10 in today's morning, in this capital, its right to the vote to the current elections of the Popular Power.

The electoral ticket of the leader of the Revolution arrived this Sunday to the school electoral number one corresponding to the district 13 of the municipality of the capital of Square of the Revolution to be deposited in the urn.

Such and like corresponds to the secret character of the voting, the properly bent and sealed ticket was given the President of the school Migdalia García García who deposited it on behalf of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.

In that way, Fidel became the voter 227 of that school, in which also exercise his right to the vote the other members of the CDR one and seven of the district 13.

The document was brought to the electoral enclosure by another voter that also fulfilled with sacred duty like the voter 226.

This is the third occasion in that the Commandant in Boss exercises his right to the vote in that school in these circumstances.

Fidel Castro receives the Chinese leader Wu Bangguo

In a cordial and fraternal atmosphere was made in yesterday morning an encounter among the partner Fidel and Wu Bangguo, member of the Permanent Committee of the Political Desk of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the Permanent Committee of the XI National Popular Assembly of the RPCh who presided over the delegation that traveled to our country in official and friendly visit.

The exchange was good to approach topics of mutual interest like the fraternal relationships between Cuba and China, the international economic and financial crisis, the climatic change, and other aspects of interest for both towns.
The partner Wu Bangguo referred at the good level of the relationships among both nations, and to the efforts of its country to continue the economic development and the amplification of its exchange with the towns of Latin America and África.

Fidel Castro’s Reflections Published in Ukraine

HAVANA, Cuba, March 20 (acn) The book "Fidel Castro. Reflection of the Commander of the Revolution” was launched in Kiev, the Ukraine’s capital, through some fifty media outlets.

The presentation was held in the Cuban embassy, where ambassador Felix León Carballo noted that the book included a selection of the most important articles written by Fidel, translated into Russian.

The diplomat thanked the initiator of the project, Dmitri Tabachnik, deputy to the Ukrainian Parliament, who expressed his interest in the figure of the Cuban Revolution leader, reported Granma newspaper.

The parliamentarian said that the 58 essays compiled –written from March 2007 and November 2008- cover different topics of world interest, from climate change to fuel production, and the U.S policy against Cuba.

Tabachnik recalled his meetings with Fidel, on one of which he gave the Cuban historical leader the "Yaroslav the wise " Order, one of the most important of Ukraine.

The Ukraine deputy said he had never met a Head of State who can talk in details about so many different topics and be able to quote the most diverse statistical figures, with the accuracy of an encyclopaedia.

Fidel Castro Bestowed Guatemala´s Top Distinction

HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 16. The Quetzal Order, in its Great Collar degree, was granted to Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro Ruz by Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom Caballeros.

During a solemn ceremony at Havana´s Revolution Palace, the distinction was handed over to Cuban President Raul Castro. In backing his decision, President Colom said he granted the distinction in a gesture of gratefulness for the over 17 million medical consultations and more than 40, 000 eye surgeries practiced in the context of the Miracle Operation free-eye surgery program, undertaken by Cuban doctors in the benefit of the Guatemalan people.

“I took the decision to grant Fidel the top Guatemalan distinction, and we do it with affection, esteem and acknowledgement, but also based on the thankfulness of all men and women, who are now enjoying the fruit of the Revolution, which has implied a high cost to the Cuban people,” said President Colom.

The distinguished visitor also recalled that Cuban doctors in Guatemala are working in the most remote mountainous areas and settlements; he thanked Cuba for the preparation of Guatemalan youths in the island´s education centers.

On behalf of the historic leader of the Revolution, Raul Castro, stressed that both countries are united by historic and brotherhood bonds. He recalled that illustrious citizen of the eastern Cuban town of Bayamo Jose Joaquin Palma wrote the lyrics of Guatemala´s National Anthem and that the central American nation, know as the Quetzal´s Land, welcomed Jose Marti during his independence pilgrimage throughout Latin America. He also explained that both nations closed ranks against Spanish colonial rule.

The Cuban President also said that after the devastating passage of hurricanes on Central America, thousands of Cuban doctors arrived in the most remote sites of Guatemala to first cure the wounded of the huge tragedy and secondly to contribute to guarantee all citizens access to health care services, particularly for the humble people.

“We feel that once again our two nations are united in a hug of mutual gratefulness and confidence and I also reiterate our will to jointly work with Guatemala to build a common Latin American and Caribbean homeland, in which all its children have a right to enjoy peace, justice and development,” Raul Castro concluded.

Present at the ceremony were the members of the Guatemalan delegation, as well as Cuban government officials and leaders.
